Popular indie platformer Rogue Legacy coming to PS Vita on July 29th

Popular indie platformer Rogue Legacy coming to PS Vita on July 29th

Rogue Legacy, the "genealogical rogue-lite" by Cellar Door Games, is headed to PS Vita along with the PlayStation 3 and 4 on July 29th in the US, and July 30th in Europe.

Compared to The Binding of Isaac and Spelunky, Rogue Legacy is a side-scrolling action platformer with a familial twist.

Each new player character comes with a unique trait - color blindness, farsightedness, general clumsiness, and so on - most of which have some tangible effect on the game.

If you die in the game (and you will, lots), your player character is succeeded by his or her children. It's a long, endless lineage of fun (and some not fun) qualities.

Whether you're granted an advantage or not by your new character's traits, the important thing is that no two games are ever the same.

The PlayStation versions of Rogue Legacy support Cross-Buy, meaning a purchase of the game on Vita will nab you the PS3 and PS4 versions as well.

All three versions will feature cross-platform cloud saving, so you could play on the PS4 and then pick up where you left off on the Vita.

For folks worried about any control scheme tweaks, fear not! According to developer Teddy Lee, Rogue Legacy was designed to be compatible with PS Vita controls from the start.

"We gambled that if it did well, we wouldn’t want the Vita version being nerfed in the control department, so we made sure to not use too many buttons," said Lee.

This new version also comes prepackaged with all content and patches from the PC version, and has been localized into several new languages, including Brazilian Portugese, German, and Russian.

No word yet on pricing. Rogue Legacy sells for £10.49 / $14.99 on Steam.
