PS Vita sales bounce back in Japan, still outsold by 3DS 13-to-1

After two straight weeks of the bad sort of record-breaking sales, the PS Vita's fortunes improved in Japan thanks to the release of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation.

According to Media Create, Sony sold 13,091 Vitas between November 12 and November 18 which is welcome news after it managed to sell only 4,021 PS Vitas last week.

On the software side, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation debuted at the #6 spot on the charts, representing the only Vita title in the top 20 games of the week.

Next week's sales figures should indicate whether the Vita's bump in sales represents the beginning of an upwards trend, or if it was simply a spike tied to the release of Liberation.

New week, same old New Leaf

Sales of the 3DS began to level out after last week's jump, and dropped off 10 per cent falling from 187,077 units sold last week to 168,876 sold this week.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf retained the #1 spot on the software charts, while New Super Mario Bros. 2 moved up to the #3 position (up from fifth place last week). Bravely Default Flying Fairy slipped from the sixth position last week to 13th place this week.
