But still no firm date

Vita to receive PS Classics support in upcoming 1.8 firmware release
|

Back at E3, Sony confirmed that the PS Vita would receive an update this summer that would introduce support for PSOne Classics.

And now Andriasang is reporting that the backwards compatibility would be introduced in the upcoming 1.8 firmware version.

Sony - once again - has confirmed that this update will come out during the summer, but hesitated to provide a release window for it.

Soon?

At time of writing, the PS Vita’s firmware version is 1.69 – patched up from 1.67 in June of 2012.

Whether Sony plans to patch incrementally through the 1.7 versions or skip directly ahead to 1.8, the good news for Vita owners is that they will have access to the vast library of PSOne Classics.
