This week on the PS Vita Store: Assassin's Creed, Need for Speed, and Smart As

Another week, another batch of PS Vita games for you to consider purchasing from the PlayStation Store.

And as far as full-price retail releases are concerned, this week is a bit of a corker.

Both the EU and US PlayStation Stores are home to some hot new titles for the Vita, although if you're in Europe, some of the prices are going to make your eyes water.

Read on to see what I mean...

Both European and US gamers can get their hands on the visually stunning Assassin's Creed III: Liberation this week. Liberation is, of course, the first Vita instalment in the wonderful Assassin's Creed franchise.

Here's the kick in the teeth, though: US punters can grab Liberation for £36 from their online store. Over this side of the pond, however, we're being asked to cough up £40 / €45. We'd suggest UK-based Vita owners hunt down a retail boxed copy instead.

Same story with Need for Speed: Most Wanted, a game our Mark described as "An extremely impressive handheld version of a console hit." It's a reasonable $40 in the US store, and a rather unreasonable £40 / €50 euros over here in Europe.

One you're going to want to avoid this week is Silent Hill: Book of Memories, priced £25. As our Kristan put it, "At best, it's a bland, repetitive Silent Hill-skinned dungeon-crawling grind. At worst, it's a vacuous vandalism of a treasured horror brand."

Americans can look forward to seeing Ragnarok Odyssey when they pop into their PlayStation Store today. It's $39.99, and it's getting a good critical reception. Lego The Lord of the Rings is also now available to Americans for $39.99. Is it any good? We have no idea at the moment. Sorry.

What we do know is that both stores are now stocking Smart As - a sort of brain training style game that I thought was kinda neat but not an essential purcase. If you're interested, it's priced at £20 / $30.

Oh, and the US store is also now home to downloadable versions of some older titles: NBA 2K13, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2, and SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3. Lucky them.

What about PlayStation Mobile this week? Well, you can expect 60 Second Shooter Deluxe, which appears to be an arena shooter with fairly average visuals. There may be more to it, but from what we've seen it's no game of the year.

QuizQuizQuiz is exactly what you'd imagine... a trivia game. You can play up to five opponents, and you simply have to answer as many questions as possible in a set time limit.

So, nothing very exciting this week on the PS Mobile front, but, hey, it's still early days for the service.

Just to make our lives that bit harder, the US and European PSN Stores are offering a completely different set of new PSP games this week.

In Europe, you can grab Geronimo Stilton 2: The Videogame for €17. For that price, you can also get a digital copy of Phineas and Ferb Across the Second Dimension.

Ratatouille, meanwhile, will set you back £10.

Americans, on the other hand, can give the PSP version of NBA 2K13 a go for $20, while game-with-big-name I Am An Air Traffic Controller Airport Hero Haneda is available for $20.

PS2 Classics-wise, Nobunaga's Ambition: Rise to Power is also now available to US PSN customers for $10.
