PlayStation Experience 2014: Here are all the PS Vita games announced at Sony's big event over the weekend

Sony held its PlayStation Experience event over the weekend in Las Vegas, and as you might imagine, there were quite a few PS Vita games announced.

If you were hoping for a big triple A announcement you're probably going to be a bit disappointed, but if you like ports, indie games, and ports, then you're likely set for a cheery end to the year.

First up there's retrotastic pixel platformer Shovel Knight, which is already out on the 3DS, and which we here at Pocket Gamer love to bits.

The game's all about running around, hitting things with a spade, and trying not to die. It's an old school leaping adventure by way of Dark Souls.

And the PS Vita version will have something the 3DS version didn't – Kratos from out of God of War will turn up as a playable character.

Then there's Severed, which is an action game from the dev behind the really rather brilliant Guacamelee!

The game sees you playing as a one-armed heroine, swiping on the screen Infinity Blade-style to hack up bad guys. And I'm pretty sure at one point in the trailer the sun gets cut in half, which is always a good sign.

We've already covered the game before, but it's nice to get the confirmation that it's definitely coming to something pocket-sized in the not-too distant future.

Also headed Vita-wards is awesome watercolored action RPG Bastion. It'll be Cross Buy enabled with the PS4 version, and should be hitting the PSN sometime in 2015.

If you're not familiar with the game, it's a gorgeous looking RPG with a poignant story and a wonderful soundtrack.

It won about 100 awards when it was first released a few years back, and it’s still as good as it ever was.

We've also covered Darkest Dungeon before. It's a grim dungeon crawler that sees your band of heroes getting more and more stressed as they storm into a monster-filled subterranean lair.

The affliction system changes the ways your your characters react. They might become more courageous after scoring a critical hit, but it's more likely the terrors of the dungeon will affect them negatively.

They might become selfish, hiding from combat and using all the supplies, or masochistic, charging in without heed and refusing to be healed.

The game is set to hit PS4 and PS Vita sometime on 2015, and it's certainly taking an interesting approach to dungeon crawling.

And the rest

Also announced were PS Vita ports of Broken Age and Day of the Tentacle, The Banner Saga, Resident Evil Revalations 2, Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions, Super Time Force, Grim Fandango, Towerfall, and Octodad.

And if that wasn't enough, it was also confirmed that ports of the classic JRPGs Suikoden I and Suikoden II are on their way as well.

Lots to savour then. We'll let you know as and when we get more concrete release dates for all of the games that were announced.
