Incoming! The most exciting Vita games for June 2015
|

The Vita has a few heavy hitters this out month, but unfortunately they're a little spread out between continents.

Pretty much every genre is covered this month, from classic puzzler to cyberteen dungeon crawler, so there's bound to be something up your alley.

If you're a PlayStation Plus member, your "free" games of the month are Super Exploding Zoo and Futuridium EP Deluxe. Well, you know, free until you cancel your membership.

Super Exploding Zoo
Honeyslug Ltd - 2nd (North America), 3rd (Europe)

This action puzzler has you sending send zoo animals off to their explosive deaths for The Greater Good. I mean, if aliens are invading, it's logical to have a herd of kamikaze animals on standby.

Shouldn't PETA be all over this? One of the PlayStation Plus games of the month, with cross-buy for the PS4 version.

Tetris Ultimate
Ubisoft - 2nd (North America)

Ah yes, the game that led to the original Game Boy Tetris and Tetris Axis being removed from the 3DS eShop. With seven modes it's pretty much all you could want out of Tetris, only without the retro charm of the '80s originals.

Steins;Gate
5pb / PQube - 5th (Europe)

Yes, the localised version of this highly acclaimed visual novel has finally made it to Europe thanks to PQube. No word on a US release date just yet.

The hook? Well, pretty much all plot progression is made depending on how you handle incoming phone calls and texts. Psyched to say I'll be playing this one over the weekend, so stay tuned for my review here next week.

Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy
Experience Inc. / NIS America - 5th (Europe), 9th (North America)

This dungeon crawling RPG has you frolicking around a futuristic Tokyo with your band of customisable, technologically modified teens.

Use them to take on genetically modified monsters from another dimension. Standard Japanese fare then.

LEGO Jurassic World
TT Games / Warner Bros. - 12th (North America, Europe)

Dun dun duuun dun dun dun dun duuun dun dun. Welcome, to LEGO Jurassic Park. Er, I mean World. Well, actually, both.

In fact, all four movies are represented here, and with 100 playable characters and 20 dinos you'll be smashing LEGO bricks for weeks to come.

J-Stars Victory Vs+
Spike Chunsoft / Bandai Namco - 26th (Europe), 30th (North America)

DS fans may have missed out on Jump Super Stars and Jump Ultimate Stars, but Bamco has stepped in to make sure the West gets the latest Shonen Jump-based fighter.

Pit some of the most well known manga characters, from Bleach to YuYu Hakusho, against each other in Dragon Ball Z-like 3D environments.

Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3
Omega Force / Koei Tecmo - 26th (Europe), 30th (North America)

Single-handedly slice and dice thousands of foes over and over again for hours upon hours. This time though, you can play as a fully customisable character. Probably some historical bits in there too.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND
Arc System Works / Aksys Games - 30th (North America)

As if you couldn't guess, this is an extended version of frantic animated fighter BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma. Two new playable characters, and all of the original's DLC.

There's no European release on the cards just yet, but it's easy enough to import for your region-free Vita if the worst comes to the worst.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 3: V Generation
Compile Heart / Idea Factory - 30th (North America)

This is an enhanced remake of the PS3 JRPG Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory with extra scenes and an improved battle system. This series is loaded with games industry in-jokes. Probably not the best place to start in the series though.

Another month, another Hyperdimension Neptunia game. Seriously, is anyone actually getting through them this quickly? With the European version just narrowly missing June, America has the overall advantage this month.

Japanese highlight:

Persona 4: Dancing All Night
Dingo Inc. / Atlus

As someone who's never been able to get into the main Persona series due to being a completionist, I'm particularly excited about this. Rhythm games are my jam, y'see.

Expect a Project DIVA-esque fare, with tons of remixes from Persona regulars like Lotus Juice, game veterans like Akira Yamaoka, and J-electro artists like Shinichi Osawa.

Chance for localisation: 80%. Already confirmed for a US release in September, so Europe should follow suit some time down the line. Persona games usually take AGES before they find their way to Europe. Let's hope SEGA sorts it out in 2015.
