Incoming! The most exciting Vita games for April 2015
|

Somehow this month's line-up seems a wee bit sparse on the Vita.

Titan Souls is the star of the show as far as I'm concerned, but no doubt some Vita lovers will be pleased to see some long-awaited ports drop onto the platform in the shape of Shovel Knight, Stealth Inc 2, and Broken Age.

The Easter sale is still going if you're in Europe, and there are some bargains to be had until the 15th. Personally, I recommend you check out Tales of Hearts R (£19.99 with DLC), Muramasa Rebirth (£7.99), Freedom Wars (£11.99), Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD (£3.29), and Virtue's Last Reward (£6.99).

A quick reminder - your PlayStation Plus Vita games for the month are Killzone: Mercenary and MonsterBag. They'll be live in the US the 7th, and in Europe on the 8th.

MonsterBag
Iguanabee / Sony Computer Entertainment - 7th (North America), 8th (Europe)

Here's a Chilean platform puzzler where you guide a li'l blue monster named V back to his good pal Nia. To do so, you'll have to sneak around on the backs of people without being noticed.

As if that doesn't already sound charming enough, PlayStation Plus members can snap it up for free throughout April.

Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones
Curve Digital Games - 7th (North America), 8th (Europe)

The sleek stealth platformer returns to the Vita. Expect Metal Gear Solid-esque sneaking around and plenty of gadgets to play with, and a new Metroidvania structure. Cross-buy with the PS3 and PS4 editions.

Titan Souls
Acid Nerve / Devolver Digital - 14th (North America), 15th (Europe)

From what we played at EGX Rezzed, Titan Souls comes across as a fusion of The Legend of Zelda's mechanics with the spirit of Shadow of the Colossus.

If Acid Nerve come anywhere near close to pulling that off for the full version this could very well be my first contender for Game of the Year. Cross-buy with the PS4 edition.

Shovel Knight
Yacht Club Games - 21st (North America)

A port of the Gold Award-winning 3DS game with a higher resolution, and those Trophy things everyone seems to have forgotten about.

Still very much a must-buy if you haven't played it before and can never get enough pretty sprites in your eyes. Cross-buy with the PS3 and PS4 editions, but no sign of a European release date yet.

Project Root
Pablo Testa / Reverb Triple XP - 28th (North America)

This Argentinian shmup's made its way over from Steam, and it's certainly more than welcome. Rather than the usual auto-scrolling, horizontal, or vertical shooter, Project Root is completely free-roaming so you can explore at will.

North America only for now... I wonder if that's down to them not wanting to use this title in Australia. Cross-buy with the PS4 edition.

Broken Age: The Complete Adventure
Double Fine Productions - 28th (North America), 29th (Europe)

Both halves of the Bronze Award-winning, Kickstarter-backed adventure from the mind of Tim Schafer. It's nice and all, but we just want more Manny, Tim.

Star Wars Rebels DLC
Zen Studios - 28th (North America), 29th (Europe)

If the Star Wars Pinball DLC for Zen Pinball 2 didn't satiate your thirst for Stormtroopers and TIE Fighters then you'll be pleased to hear a new table is on the way. It's based on the Star Wars Rebels TV show, and will come with seven missions.

Xeodrifter: Special Edition
Renegade Kid / Gambitious Digital Entertainment - April

Here's a lovely looking Metroidvania from the developer of Bronze Award-winning Mutant Mudds. Scavenge alien planets to bring your spaceship back to life and all that.

Japanese highlight:

Super Robot Wars Z3: Tengoku-hen
Banpresto / Bandai Namco - 2nd (Japan)

The latest iteration in the long-running mech-based series that goes all the way back to the original Game Boy. Packed with guest mechs from well over a dozen anime and manga series, this strategy RPG may be worth an import for die-hard mech fans.

Chance for localisation: <0.01%. A licensing nightmare - it's never going to happen.
