Double Eleven confirms fluid twin-stick shooter PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate will go live for Vita and PS4 this summer
Wash out
Over on the EU PlayStation Blog, Double Eleven has just confirmed the existence of twin-stick Vita shooter PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate.
In this Ultimate version, the PixelJunk Shooter guys have bundled together the previously PS3- / PC-only games PixelJunk Shooter 1 and 2 into a seamless campaign for PS4 and Vita.
Double Eleven has also been working on enhancements to the games specific to each platform.
For the Vita, Ultimate has a sharper-looking HUD; co-op cross-play with your friends on Vita or PS4; Cross-Save functionality; and a new competitive scoring system.
Liquid dreamsDouble Eleven has made another change to the Vita version, mind, though it's being quite vague about it.
PixelJunk Shooter is about rescuing trapped scientists from an underground complex, you see. To do that, you have to manipulate water, magma, and a magnetic liquid.
Double Eleven mentions that simulating the liquid physics really tested some PCs, so it was always going to be a struggle to replicate that experience on a handheld.
It seems that Double Eleven found a way around it, mind, with new "environmental interactions" for the Vita version. Unfortunately, though, we can't tell you anything more about this feature.
Over on the US PlayStation Blog, by the way, Double Eleven's Richard Snowdon tells us that we can expect to see PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate on PS4 and Vita this summer.
