Gamescom '13: Minecraft is definitely heading to PS Vita

A console isn't really a console nowadays if you can't play Minecraft on it.

I mean, there's even an Xperia Play version of Mojang's block-building indie smash. And we all know how well that mangled mess of a gaming phone did.

Finally, though, it looks like Vita gamers are going to get their own version of Minecraft, too.

While the big news at Sony's Gamescom press conference last night was a PS4 version of the Lego-esque build-'em-up, a Minecraft for Sony's powerhouse portable has also been confirmed via a series of tweets.

Minecraft Vita is being developed by 4J Studios, the team responsible for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4 editions of the game.

Minecraft and Yourncraft

If you've been living in a cave for a few years, Minecraft is a multiplayer sandbox game. There aren't many rules here, but there are more players than you could ever hope to count.

Essentially, you wander around, building things, smashing things, and cowering in a hovel at night so exploding Creepers don't murder you. It's super-fun.

We don't have a solid release date for the Vita version of Minecraft, but we do know the PS4 edition will be a PS4 launch title.

So, if the games are released at the same time, expect to be playing Minecraft on your Vita on November 29th in the UK.
