Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater arriving in Europe this summer as part of Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection for PS Vita

Konami has announced that it's bringing Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection to Sony's recently released PS Vita handheld this summer.

Unlike its console counterparts, the Vita version of this collection doesn't feature a remastered version of PSP hit Peace Walker. Instead, you get just two games: Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Both are enhanced high-definition remakes of the original PlayStation 2 titles, complete with a graphical makeover (naturally), a "rebalanced user interface", and controls that make use of the Vita's touchscreen capabilities.

Regarding those bespoke controls, legendary game designer Hideo Kojima revealed on Twitter last month that you'll be able to slice your enemy's throats by swiping the Vita's rear touchpad.

Sons of Liberty and the best Metal Gear Solid title in the series, Snake Eater, will both feature unlockable trophies. Not to mention Kojima Productions's Transfarring system, which allows you to share data with the MGS: HD Collection for PlayStation 3.

"The PlayStation Vita system will provide fans with an exciting new way to enjoy the Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection," Martin Schneider, general manager for Konami Digital Entertainment, said.

"We're confident that users will be pleased with the new innovations Kojima Productions have implemented with the new PlayStation Vita iterations, offering a truly unique experience for this exciting new format."
