Offline bots will finally be available in Killzone: Mercenary for Vita tomorrow

Guerrilla will finally be adding offline matches against bots in Killzone: Mercenary for Vita tomorrow. But you'll have to pay for them.

I laughed, too. Apparently, though, it's not a joke.

There are much worse things in the world, sure. But offline bots have become the norm in modern multiplayer first-person shooters. With bots, you see, you get a chance to hone your skills at any time.

Some of you may consider them essential target practice before heading into the online multiplayer, just so you can get to grips with the game. Others, like my dad, enjoy playing against bots and never going online.

Killzone: Mercenary

For those reasons, offline bots are usually included as part of the game's package for free. But Guerrilla is bucking that trend and actually charging for them in the Botzone Soldier Training Pack.

After handing over the requisite moolah for this pack, you'll be able to play all eight multiplayer maps offline with up to seven bots in Mercenary and Guerrilla Warfare modes. You'll also be able to obtain the harder multiplayer-only trophies offline with these bots if you're up to it.

So, here's where Guerrilla justifies the price: the bots have been made more intelligent. Oh, and they boast a range of new abilities, like zip-line navigation, capsule hacking, and interrogations. Hopefully, then, they'll at least provide a decent challenge.

You'll also get to pick the size of teams, and even have the "luxury" of picking who is on each side.

Anyway, if you do want to pick up the Botzone Soldier Training Pack, then prepare to hand over €2.49 (about £2.05). It'll be available on PSN tomorrow.
