We've been seeing plenty of
Final Fantasy ports appearing on the PSP as of late, including
FFIV and
FFV, and it sounds like Square Enix is planning to continue this trend with the upcoming PS Vita.
Talking to Japanese magazine
Famitsu (and translated by
Siliconera), former
Final Fantasy XI lead Hiromichi Tanaka explained that there's a possibility the game will appear on the next Sony handheld.
It won't be anything more than a simple port of the classic MMORPG, but it's nevertheless exciting stuff, especially coupled with Vita's 3G capabilities.
The PC version of the game is still going strong and being updated periodically, despite originally launching way back in 2002.
