Fieldrunners 2 is ready to bring tower defence and flying beehives to your PS Vita

Recently, we've noticed a trend of successful mobile games making their way over to the PS Vita.

From a Vita owner's perspective, this is an awesome trend - and one that will continue with the upcoming release of the Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning Fieldrunners 2.

While we don’t have a firm release date for the project yet, we can say with some confidence that it'll be a global release since it's been confirmed on both the US and EU PlayStation Blogs.

All your base, base, base

The original Fieldrunners found its way to the PSP back in 2009 when the Vita was barely a glint in Sony's eye, so it makes sense that Fieldrunners 2 would follow its lead to Sony's newest handheld.

Fieldrunners 2 features plenty of madcap innovations over the original tower defence classic, and allows you to defend your base with guns that fire salvos of infected needles, exploding beehives, and even stranger bits of artillery.

If you're feeling particularly festive, you can also rain flaming Jack O’Lanterns down on enemy ranks or call in a precision "Santa Strike".

The only thing that's not to like about this announcement is the lack of a release date, but we'll have that for you just as soon Subatomic Studios makes it public.
