The developer of the crowdfunded indie gem Energy Hook has announced that he's bringing the swing-for-style adventure game to the PS4 and PS Vita later this year.

Energy Hook's described on The PlayStation Blog as "a 3D swinging game like Spider-Man 2 had a love child with 'points-for-style' game SSX".

The reference to Spider-Man 2 isn't a mistake, mind, as the dev behind the project is best known for his work at Activision on - you guessed it - Spider-Man 2.

Energry Hook's artwork and gameplay reminds us a bit of the Silver Award-winner Gravity Rush with some Bionic Commando thrown in for good measure.

In terms of plot, however, Energy Hook's far less grand in scope - it's the future, and Energy Hook-ing is something of an extreme sport. Thus, you'll be swinging from rooftops and running up the sides of buildings for no other reason than to amass as many points as possible.

We don't have a release window for Energy Hook just yet, but happily, Energy Hook also appeared on the EU PlayStation Blog, which means everyone will be able to share in the fun when it's released.

If you'd like an idea of what Energy Hook will play like, take a look its PC build in the trailer below.
