Let's face it, there are some gamers who just don't like sports games.

The thrill of FIFAs and Maddens are lost on these folk, but Scottish dev Ludometrics is hoping to lure them back into the sports game fold with a pseudo-sports game called Bodycheck.

Drawing its inspiration from apocryphal stories of medieval football / soccer matches that featured 500 players per side and severed pigs' heads being worked around a massive pitch, Bodycheck will focus less on sports and more on good 'ol fashioned carnage.

Similar to Games Workshop's popular Blood Bowl, Bodycheck will allow players to engage in punching, scratching, and general roughhousing in every match.

Also, players can field wizards to resurrect fallen players or blast apart an opponent's defense with lightning bolts. That seems important to mention.

We don't have many other details about Body Check at the moment, but Ludometrics took to the PlayStation Blog to announce that it will support multiplayer matches and that we should expect it sometime in the autumn (Q3 2014).

We'll keep you posted when we have more to report on this one.
