BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma will drop a 2D beating on your Vita this summer

Aksys dropped a big bucket of good news on Vita owners looking forward to the release of the 2D fighter BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma - it's coming out this summer in North America.

We don't have a specific release date, unfortunately, but the tentative release window is promising - and not too far off.

Additionally, Aksys let slip that BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma will feature all the playable characters from the PlayStation 3 release along with an additional story, an enhanced Abyss mode, and a few other tweaks.

Also, those who like robust rosters are in for another treat - DLC characters Kokonoe and Terumi will be available for purchase and Kagura Mutsuki will be hidden in the game as an unlockable.

In a blaz of glory

Aksys reckons that, all told, BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma will deliver about 30 hours of gameplay as Ragna - the longtime protagonist of the BlazBlue series - begins his final mission.

If you have no idea who Ragna is, you'll be happy to learn that the Vita version of Chrono Phantasma includes summaries of the events of Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift - a Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winner - so you won't be completely lost once the story starts up.

We'll keep you posted with a firm release date and pricing as soon as we have them - especially relating to the European release. Until then, you can ooh and ahh at the PlayStation 3 trailer for Chrono Phantasma.
