Maybe not THAT near you

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma is set to perform crazy diving kick-punches on a PS Vita near you

If you like your fighters super-smooth, two dimensional, and with so much depth your screams of defeat echo forever, then I've got some good news for you.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma is the hard-to-say sequel to BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend. More importantly, though, it's heading to PS Vita in the not-too-distant future.

Much like the 2D fighters of old, BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma is more of an iteration than a straight sequel, so you can expect to see some new characters brushing shoulders with polished versions of the old crowd.

If you've never played a BlazBlue game before, then shame on you. The series is famed for its insanely fast one-on-one scraps, and for its rich and rewarding fighting system that begs to be experimented with.

The BlazBlue games have already graced PSP (in the form of Continuum Shift II) and PS Vita (in the form of Continuum Shift Extend) in the West, so there's a decent chance that this new version will make it over to these parts, too.

You'll also be able to share DLC across the PS3 and PS Vita versions, which is sort of cool. The screenshots above, by the way, are from the home console version of BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma.

We'll let you know if and when we hear anything more concrete about the game's Western release.
