With 20,000 plus applications already on the App Store, it’s taking some genuine imagination for developer to get their games noticed.

Tag Games has been readying it’s launch of the GTA-esque iPhone adaptation of Car Jack Streets with a competition to put a player right in the game.

The winner of this “Get In The Game” competition has just been announced, with Bulgarian graphic designer Marto Tonev being chosen to have his caricatured visage added as a Car Jack Streets character.

Many iPhone developers are small businesses, without the commercial finances behind them to offer big prizes or world spanning trips as prizes in promotions such as this.

But the modern gamer is just as easily enticed by this kind of personal involvement in a development, making small but intriguing campaigns like Tag Games’s very appealing to them.

Recently IUGO also introduced a poll allowing players to choose the name of its new iPhone pinball game, and has seen a good reaction that’ll undoubtedly carry over once the game goes on release.

The independent nature of the App Store promotes this kind of unorthodox and efficient form of active marketing, and we can undoubtedly expect to see a lot more of them in the near future.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
