Sure, the fact that Mario Kart's coming to mobile was pretty exciting news but Nintendo decided to continue their hype train by announcing that an animated Mario movie is in the works.

Revealed not long after their MK mobile news, Nintendo America will be working with Illumination Entertainment (Despicable Me, Sing, The Secret Life of Pets), and it'll be co-produced by the legend himself, Shigeru Miyamoto, and CEO of IE, Chris Meledandri.

There are so many things to feel at this point that it's hard to figure out where to start. In the simplest terms, Illumination Entertainment has provided some quality films in the past with a lot of big-name actors. My biggest concern at the moment is imagining Mario, Luigi, Peach, and co. actually speaking more than one word to each other.

I know, that sounds weird, but then I felt the same about the Angry Birds movie which wasn't as horribly received as I thought it was. I'm curious to see where the studios want to go with it. Whether it'd be an origin story, a 'day in the life of' story, a general 'save the princess' story, or something else.

There's also a possibility that a few Easter Eggs could be slipped into the films since Mario x Rabbids worked so damn well, but I reckon that'd be a background detail or 'stuffed Minion plushie in a corner'-type deal.

What do you guys think? Does the thought of Nintendo taking another whack at a Mario movie make you shudder? Let us know in those comments.
