Angry Birds is the first sleeve sponsor for Everton F.C.
The red's now a blue
Some of our UK readers may have seen this in yesterday's football match between Everton and Manchester United, but Everton's got their first sleeve sponsors for 2017/2018: Angry Birds.
Officially announced in a release yesterday, the sponsorship is the first of the 2017/2018 season now that players can carry the names on the arms of their shirts.#RedisABlue! "Rovio Entertainment recognise the global reach that Everton can deliver through its international fanbase and the global exposure of the Premier League. In return, working with Rovio and the Angry Birds brand gives Everton exposure in key international markets through their breadth of digital channels in gaming and animation, as well as a wide range of co-branded merchandise," said Alan McTavish, Head of Commercial at Everton. "The lead character in the Angry Birds universe is known as Red - and it is great to know he is now a Blue."
Both partners took to Twitter yesterday to express their excitement at the new relationship, and of course it was met with mixed and sometimes hilarious reactions.
