You wouldn't have thought that the chaps at id Software had much to prove.
After pretty much single-handedly inventing the first-person shooter genre with Castle Wolfenstein, chipping in with the first multiplayer FPS with Doom, and then following it up with spectacularly successful sequels such as the Quake series, you might have thought that they'd be happy to rest on their laurels and enjoy the fruits of their labours.
You'd be completely wrong of course. In fact, founder John Carmack and co seem to have set themselves a new goal – to bring a similar revolution to the world of mobile gaming. They're making a pretty good stab at it too, following up the success of Doom RPG with the brand new fantasy RPG Orcs & Elves™.
Developed in conjunction with Fountainhead Entertainment, this latest adventure demands use of both wits and reactions as you explore an ancient Dwarven fortress seeking to avoid traps, defeat legendary beasts and scoop the treasure.
The game has already secured plenty of treasure of its own, adding our much sought after Silver Award to its growing collection. And now we've teamed up with EA Mobile to offer one lucky reader a treasure trove of their very own, in the form of the magical Orcs & Elves exclusive Collector's Edition box set, featuring a brand new Nokia N73 phone worth £295 plus an uploaded copy of Orcs & Elves.
Although we will be keeping it safe in the Pocket Gamer vaults for now, there's no need to scour dark dungeons to get your hands on this loot. All you have to do is answer the question below:
Which of id Software's famous games has been a hit on both PC and mobile?
a) Quake?
b) Hmm, Castle Wolfenstein 3D perchance?
c) Surely it's Doom
