Mecho Wars has put game design guru Luc Bernard's name deep within the pockets of the iPhone gaming community, so news that he's now teamed up with independent developer Just About Managing on a new puzzle game is very exciting.

Currently under the working title of Orbs, this match-three game revives many of Bernard's favourite characters courtesy of his longtime pixel artist partner Shane ‘BadassBill’ Gill.

There aren't really any details on exactly how Orbs Will work as yet, but it promises to redefine the match-three puzzle gameplay by offering a different experience depending on the character, while putting a host of power-ups - including stars, bombs and black holes - to use.

Apparently Orbs's development is pretty much finished, and it's expected to appear in the App Store sometime in November. Stay tuned for more news as we get it.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
