LG Optimus 3D now arriving in Carphone Warehouse shops on July 1st

3D apparently stands for ‘Three release Dates’

There was once a time when a company would declare a release date for a new product, people would note it down in their diaries, and then said people would visit the shop and purchase the goods.

The Carphone Warehouse seems to find this process a little too predictable. How else can you explain why it’s now set no fewer than three different release dates for the LG Optimus 3D?

The latest date puts the date of the 3D handset as the 1st of July (tomorrow) - significantly earlier than the first announcement that put it as a 21st July release and a week before the other official date of the 7th.

There’s only a limited number of shops that will stock the phone (and in limited quantities at that), so you may be best referring to the list before driving/walking/flying down to your local shop on Friday morning.

Why are people excited about the new phone? Because the Optimus 3D is one of the first handsets to let you view 3D movies and games without glasses - using the autoscopic technology last seen on the Nintendo 3DS. It’s also a dual-core 1GHz Android Gingerbread phone with some serious grunt behind it.
