OnLive's cloud-based PC desktop app for iPad now available to download from the US App Store

It may be a day later than previously expected, but streaming service OnLive has released its all-new iPad application called OnLive Desktop: a "seamless, no-compromise, instant-response, cloud-based PC desktop" that can be used anywhere.

The OnLive Desktop app lets you easily and instantly view, create, and edit a variety of documents on your Apple tablet using "actual" Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Naturally, the service has been tailored to take advantage of the iPad's touch-enabled screen, which means you can pinch, zoom, flick, and scroll with your greasy digits.

If that wasn't enough to convince you to download the free OnLive Desktop app, it will also allow you to easily transfer files between the app and "other devices", as well as interact with lag-free animation and video. You can even play hardware-intensive PC games through the service.

OnLive Desktop missed its expected release date by a single day so OnLive could "prepare for high demand", but it is now available on the US App Store completely free of charge. We'll let you know when it arrives in the UK.
