E3 2016: Ubisoft bringing Star Trek to VR with 4 player co-op

It's been a busy E3 for leaks and this latest one, a post that went up a little too early at Digital Spy, is bringing us something cool - Star Trek: Bridge Crew, a four-player cooperative VR game that'll be taking place in the JJ Abrams Star Wars Universe.

We don't know too much about the game now, beyond that it'll be the first ever virtual reality game to be created by Ubisoft and developer Red Storm Entertainment. It'll be a four-player game that casts players as either the captain or an officer in the Tactical, Engineer or Helm aboard the starship Aegis, which will be 90% similar to the Enterprise.

So far it sounds like a VR version of Artemis Spaceship Bridge simulator, which itself was heavily inspired by Star Trek, so we've come full circle, but this time with VR headsets on and full motion tracking with hand controllers so you can wave at each other.

There will be randomly generated missions as well as a story campaign and it'll have a mix of ship-to-ship combat but also some exploration too. Star Trek: Bridge Crew is due towards the tail end of this year and you'll be able to play it on the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.

We should see more Monday night at Ubisoft's E3 press conference.
