Oculus Rift being shipped earlier than expected?

Finally, some good news

Oculus Rift being shipped earlier than expected?
|

Another day, another Oculus Rift news story.
Fortunately, this one is much more positive than anything we've seen in recent weeks. According to a report from Road to VR, one customer has come forward and said that their headset has shipped much earlier than the delay estimate. Previously they had been quoted between May 23rd and June 2nd.

In earlier news stories, it had been suggested that some customers wouldn't receive their headsets for at least another 2 months due to unexpected component shortage and manufacturing issues.

It seems this won't be an isolated incident either as Oculus provided a very promising statement to Road to VR.

"We're delivering Rifts to customers every day, and we're focused on getting Rifts out the door as fast as we can." The report states.

"We've taken steps to address the component shortage, and we'll continue shipping in higher volumes each week….Many Rifts will ship less than four weeks from original estimates, and we hope to beat the [delay] estimates we've provided."

It also seems as if some people who have purchased Oculus bundles from other outlets such as Amazon, Best Buy, and Microsoft are receiving shipping confirmations within hours of placing their order.

However, if you're thinking of purchasing one it seems as if all bundles offered by the aforementioned third parties are sold out. Classic Oculus.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
