O2 mobile game download charts and new releases: November 7th

Call of Duty is back on our mobiles this week with the release of World at War – the latest in the WWII shooter franchise. Having become one of the most prolific and, to be blunt, most profitable war gaming series currently available, it's appealing for pocket gamers to see the mobile platform also being catered for. The expansiveness of modern console games makes it a monumental challenge to recreate a recognisable franchise on the mobile screen, so we're hoping World at War manages to keep CoD flag flying high.

Also continuing their respective game series this week is the megalithic wrestling licence, WWE SmackDown vs Raw 09. The game went 3D last year, which is no small feat for the Java framework, so it'll be interesting to see what another 12 months of development time has done for the big men in small pants.

And it's a pleasant surprise to see California Games return to the O2 New Releases. Although this latest incarnation of the sand, sea and surfing sports simulator is dubbed as California Games X, you might be intrigued to hear the series is now just over 20 years old! It's a great bit of nostalgia for those of us who remember Epyx Games' awesome athletics title when it first hit the ZX Spectrum and C64, but it doesn't 'alf make you feel old.

It's not the only old campaigner to return, either. This week, out of nowhere, we see two aging mobile games push their way back into the charts: Command & Conquer and FIFA Manager 08. Okay, they're not as old as California Games, but considering that even the hottest new titles have been struggling to break into the charts for the last couple of months, it's pretty amazing to see two old stalwarts like this make a reappearance.
