Immovable objects and unstoppable forces

O2 mobile game download charts and new releases: September 12th

| O2 mobile charts

Considering the continued static nature of the O2 charts, despite prophetic claims as to imminent changes over the last few weeks, Pocket Gamer has commissioned (at great expense) some of the finest theoretical minds to decipher quite what's going on in the mobile game Top 10. The results are somewhat paradoxical, but ultimately have an answer.

Our team of hypothetical geniuses concluded that the charts and new releases conform to the 'irresistible force paradox'; a scientific conundrum which asks the impossible question, "What if an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?" Little did the theologians who first posed that question know they were talking about mobile games.

To begin our understanding of the logical influences at work, we must look at the immovable object: the Top 10. Games such as Bejeweled, Tetris and Jewel Quest II form a nucleus of obdurate energy, shored up by a select satellite configuration of increasingly unchanging titles such as Monopoly, Deal or No Deal and Sims 2. These games fluctuate within the immovable object, but exhibit a behaviour which demonstrates their ability to absorb an infinite amount of gaming energy.

The new releases reflect an entirely different set of chaotic principles, however. The immovability of the charts suggest the same universe cannot sustain an unstoppable force such as the constant stream of new games into the mobile market; particularly titles as seemingly inexorable as Spore Origins, Real Football Manager 2009 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed*.

The paradox forms around these two elements of mobile gaming because, according to current understanding of physics, the two cannot co-exist. Yet here we see another mostly unchanged chart alongside some unstoppable new titles. Fortunately, Pocket Gamer's elite team of scienceticians gave up on trying to answer the question and went drinking instead. In a brief moment of beer fuelled clarity, the answer presented itself. Here's what the brilliant Professor Kawashima conjectured:

"They'd bounsh off each other, wun't they? You wanna fight!?"

So there you have it. That's why the charts haven't moved much again, despite some awesome new releases this week.

Don't forget all the games below are available to buy via the O2 games portal or by texting the short code from a compatible O2 handset.
