O2 mobile game download charts and new releases: August 1st

After last week's heavily licensed line-up of film, TV, cartoon and sporting mobile adaptations, we've a decidedly puzzling array of games to report in the new O2 charts. And we mean that quite literally.

Alongside the digitised micro-screen antics of Little Britain's mini-game collection (insert your favourite catchphrase here), and the long awaited rubber-burning return of the urban driving franchise, Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is a dynamic reboot of the classic Russian puzzle game in Tetris Pop.

War wages both in the battlefield, with Brothers in Arms: Art of War, and in the kitchen with Cake Mania 2. We can thank Gordon Ramsay for associating the horrors of war with the efficient operation of a professional kitchen, but these two titles should still provide all the aggressive release any battle-hardened pocket gamers need to release this week.

Not surprisingly, Guitar Hero III Mobile retains its vice-like grip on the lead position in this week's charts, with an eclectic array of puzzlers bringing up the rear. Complete with Noel's perfectly trimmed beard comes Deal or No Deal, along with return of ever popular classics Bejeweled and Monopoly; two games that never seem to be far from the charts.

And, for those who'd rather challenge their brawn instead of their brain we've got the high speed action of Asphalt Urban GT 2 and ring collecting athletics of the spiky blue rodent's Sonic at the Olympic Games.

Something for everyone this week, so head on over to O2's games portal and get texting – all the games below are available to buy via the O2 games portal or by texting the short code from a compatible O2 handset.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
