O2 mobile game download charts and new releases: February 22nd

Say what you like about the prevalence of so called disposable culture these days, but mobile games, though higher in frequency than on any other platform, are much more often geared towards betterment than their trigger happy home console counterparts.

Take the first of the new releases on O2's portal this week for example: Bookworm, a game that aims to whittle your mind into a sharpened instrument of linguistic prowess.

Perhaps a little less cerebral but certainly no less valid is the arrival of the 08 edition of the incrementally tweaked NBA Live series. Of course, no line-up of mobile games old or new could avoid the inclusion of a traditional match-'em-up puzzler of some description, with Me To You obliging this week. And last of all, a game that by all accounts seems much better suited to mobile than the first platform it was released on: Metal Gear Acid. About as high profile as they come on mobile licence-wise and well worth the asking price by our standards.

And so on with the chart. Arguably the king of the match-'em-up puzzler, Bejeweled is perched regal-like, holding its position on the bauble-crusted throne at the top of the chart. Unbelievably, after a heroic months long top-ten run, The Sims 2 has finally been turfed out and has been supplanted by the wavering Brain Challenge's umpteenth re-entry.

Which as usual means that pretty much everything else has done it's weekly merry rejig, with favorites Deal or No Deal and Tetris Mania continuing to hold their own amongst more recent entries such as The Sims 2 Castaway and FIFA Manager 08.
