O2 mobile game download charts and new releases: July 12th

Despite summer holidays breaking out nationwide, there's been plenty of activity in this week's O2 game download charts. Could it be that UK gamers are clamouring for entertainment on the beach? Or are they just running low on cash after booking their break away? The fact that seven of the top 10 are budget titles would certainly seem to suggest so.

Obivously, we prefer to think of it as the Great British Public seeing sense and listening to our reviews. The top three all scooped one of our awards (with the highest scorer Sonic the Hedgehog bagging the top spot) and eight of the top 10 all score seven or above. The only exceptions being Shrek 3 – review coming soon – and Deal or No Deal – our ghast remains flabbered!

Doubtless both Transformers and The Simpsons will smash into the charts next week on the back of their respective blockbuster movies, but the message from the people is pretty clear. If games want to hang around, they'll have to be good. Erm, or feature Noel Edmonds.

New releases July 13th
