O2 mobile game download charts and new releases: November 14th

A recent news report suggested that by the end of this year, half the world's population will own mobile phones. Naturally, a figure like that means there must be a lot of kids out there these days with their own phones, and clearly they're doing more with them than making calls and texting.

This week's new releases seem to be geared up especially for the younger portion of the three billion mobile phone users. The official mobile conversion of the Madagascar 2 movie stands out in particular, though the sudden (but welcome) reappearance of Inspector Gadget is another game that's likely to appeal to the younger player (especially considering the clumsy cyber-detective picked himself up a Pocket Gamer Bronze Award recently).

On top of these we've got Tom & Jerry in a Pac-Man-styled maze-a-thon, so there's cartoons aplenty for the younger readers to play noisily on the bus this week.

The mature gamer hasn't been left out, though. Headlining the new releases for the more established pocket gamer is the awesome Need for Speed Underground, the latest addition to the mobile arm of this prolific franchise. The previous mobile version of the NfS games are serial award winners, landing some top scores both on Pocket Gamer and from the entertainment industry, so it's pretty exciting news to see Underground finally make its way onto the mobile circuit.

And although the charts haven't shifted a great deal, it does highlight something of an O2 bargain at the moment – Sega's 2-4-1 game pack featuring both Columns and Puyo Pop for only two-and-a-half quid. Also known as Sega Puzzle Pack: Blue, we thought very highly of this classic compilation at the end of last year when it was released, so it's good to see it still doing well on special offer.
