Revolutionary Gamevil title to turn mobile gaming on its head...

There'll soon be an exciting new Nom in mobile gaming, thanks to the guys behind Skipping Stone. Well, to be brutally honest, it's actually a rather old Nom, at least in Korea where the title was originally released way back in 2003 – but that doesn't necessarily mean we should be less excited.

The innovative platformer – whose title apparently stands for No Ordinary Mobile game – is a one-button affair that sees you triggering the leaps of a running stick man who must traverse a series of obstacles including pits, platforms and flaming hoops.

Whilst the challenge of timing your button presses to clear obstacles may in itself nothing new, that you need to rotate the screen to follow the action certainly is. At regular intervals in the game your miniature runner will vault onto a wall and start running upwards, at which point you need to either turn the handset or risk an aneurysm getting your head around the new angles.

Compound this quirkiness with constantly changing backdrops, enemies to battle and even girls to kiss, and it's not hard to see why the game has scored so many innovation awards.

Nom is due to be launched in the US shortly via Gamevil's sparkly new American office, after which we expect it to travel to these shores, hopefully followed closely by Nom 2 and Skipping Stone 2.
