Nokia’s latest 3G handset is a slim little number that’s far from light on features

Well alright, it’s not that slim, but for a 3G phone it’s a step in the right direction. The new N70 from Nokia measures just 10.9cm tall, 5.3cm wide and 2.1cm thick, so that bulge in your trouser pocket won’t be quite so large. Just because it’s been on a diet doesn’t mean you’re missing out on the good stuff, mind; the N70 packs a 2 megapixel camera, flash and front camera for video calling, and a digital music player with stereo audio. It also features a punchy set of internal components that’ll power the latest games, though the lack of a proper thumbstick will hamper your control in certain games (there’s nothing, not even a nub. Sob).

Nokia’s still proud of it, though, with a company spokesman adding that the N70 combines the “latest technologies and elegant design with a comprehensive set of multimedia features.” In fact, he went on to label it a “true multimedia computer”, which is quite a claim, even for a spin-happy corporate shill. The reasoning behind the bluster? “Easy and intuitive mobile photography, automatic storing of those great quality shots, listening to music, reading and writing email [as well as] browsing favourite websites.” Fair enough, then.

The N70 is arriving in stores now and also features an FM radio tuner and a special edition of the new Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 software for editing all those digital photos you’re going to take with it.
