Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime believes Sony’s PSPgo to have a “fundamental concept problem in terms of 'Who's it for?' and 'What's the benefit?'"

Speaking to The Washington Post, Fils-Aime expanded on his criticism by saying, "I have the utmost respect for all our competitors, but it's interesting to try and answer the consumer question of 'What's in it for me?' in that product."

He went on to defend the DS against comparisons with Apple’s iPhone, stating that the likes of Scribblenauts, Mario Kart DS, Nintendogs and New Super Mario Bros are experiences that are, “very unique and very different and what you cannot find on their App Store."

When asked if Nintendo had any intentions to provide a direct competitor to the iPhone, though, Fils-Aime dismissed the idea out of hand. "We don't have a desire to get into the phone space," he said. "We think the game business is competitive enough."
