With Europe still waiting for an announcement about where we'll be able to hook up online-enabled games such as Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing: Wild World, in America Nintendo has revealed that one prime location for gaming will be McDonalds. Around 6,000 McDonalds outlets in the US already have wi-fi connections and, thanks to an agreement with the company running them, American DS owners will be able to play for free while munching on a burger.

And getting online should be as easy as ordering fast food, too. Just switch on your DS with a wi-fi enabled game in one of the McDonalds taking part and the game will immediately give you the option of going online. No tinkering with your DS’ set-up is required.

Of course, if you want to get your DS online elsewhere, you’ll be able to do so at any wi-fi hotspot as long as you have your laptop with you and Nintendo's £30 wi-fi USB Connector. This enables your DS to share your laptop's internet connection, although in this case standard connection charges will apply.
