In an interview with The Times Online, David Yarnton, General Manager of Nintendo UK, claimed that the DSi XL was "the sort of thing you could leave on your coffee table" rather than "chuck in your pocket".

He went on to clarify the point by saying, "There’s plenty of people that play at home, and this is an opportunity to give them an enhanced gaming experience."

He also reiterated the company’s attitude towards its phone-based gaming competitors saying cryptically that "we’ve got a lot of unique product that they just can’t and won’t have".

The DSi XL is out today and is the latest iteration of the best selling portable console ever made. If you’re unsure about the benefits it offers over the DSi, take a ganders at our 'Do you need to buy a DSi XL' feature, or check out the extensive DSi XL review.
