You know, someone at Nintendo might have planned this but the new blue and pink coloured DSs will be released on the same day as the soon-to-be-huge Nintendogs - 7 October - get it in your diaries now. Maybe the idea is you’ll buy a blue one if you’re going to choose male Nintendogs or a pink one for those favouring girl puppies?

Anyhow, with over one million DSs sold in Europe and Nintendo hoping to sell a further two million by the end of 2005, there’ll be plenty more marketing tricks - as well as great games - before the year’s done.

Expect to pay around £100 for your DS (of whichever colour) with other deals including bundled games and carry cases starting from around £120.
