DS is fastest-selling console ever
515,000 happy pockets in Europe last week
While the headlines in recent days have focused on the launch of Nintendo's Wii, DS has sneakily taken the crown becoming the best selling console in Europe ever.
For the record, Nintendo sold 325,000 Wii throughout Europe during its launch weekend. But in the same week, 515,000 DSs were sold, which was its highest sales figure ever, as well as being the most consoles ever sold in European in a seven day period.
Sales were particularly boosted by the pink version of the DS Lite, which is selling out as soon as Nintendo manages to restock stores. Nintendo also reckons there are now 8.5 million DSs in Europe, although presumably by next week, that will be 9 million.
And the company's going great guns in the US too, where it claims Wii and DS sales comprised 55 per cent of all the consoles sold during November.
