Nintendo: 85 per cent of UK will see 3DS ads before launch
Half a million people will have a go before March 25th
Nintendo estimates that 85 per cent of people in the UK will have caught a glimpse of its 3DS TV adverts by the time the handheld launches on March 25th.
It also hopes that half a million consumers will have given the 3D-enabled console a try at one of its nationwide preview events.
Talking to MCV, UK marketing director Dawn Paine explained: "The campaign is a celebration of the 3D experience. There are two key elements: experiential and advertising. What will be a departure for us is how we fuse them together, in a way we haven’t done before.
"In the campaign we will be showing consumers, real people, getting their first hands-on with 3DS at one of the events. And that in turn drives the people who see the ads to the sampling push. It’s a virtuous circle."
If you're wondering at the strange use of the word 'virtue' in a sentence about advertising, a virtuous circle is simply the opposite of a vicious circle.
