The launch of the Nintendo 3DS is now little over a month away and the price war between UK retailers is hotting up.
GAME has lowered the price of the 3DS on its online store to just £196.99, a reduction from £219.99. The outlet has contacted pre-order customers: "We are delighted to inform you that we have been able to reduce the selling price of Nintendo 3DS Console Cosmos Black to 196.99 GBP. "Your credit / debit card will be charged with the new, lower price upon despatch of your order, even if the price goes up again before launch!" GAME is now the cheapest online retailer for 3DS pre-orders.
Nintendo decided not to set an RRP for the 3DS, instead leaving it to retailers to decide the price. Most stores initially listed the 3DS at around the £229.99 mark, but in the weeks leading up to the launch many have slashed their prices.
Play.com is now selling the console for £202, while Amazon has reduced the cost of a pre-order to just £197, which presumably prompted GAME’s latest reduction. The Nintendo 3DS is released on the 25th March.
