SouthPeak Games has announced Ninjatown, a title based on Shawnimals' designer toy line and scheduled to step out of the development shadows in autumn 2008.

Ninjatown, the place, is populated by a diverse group of fun-loving ninjas. Its surprisingly peaceful nature is violently disrupted when the local volcano erupts, an event that is soon followed by the invasion of hordes of sinister enemies lead by Mr Demon.

Thankfully, you can recur to each of the individual ninjas' skills when ridding the town, one district at a time, of Mr Demon's minions. You do this by using the stylus to strategically place ninjas to defend each area – the game is played in a top-down perspective and the action promises to be non-stop.

We'll see if that's the case when we get our shuriken weathered hands on some playable code.
