Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword to ship in March

Tecmo has announced fast-paced martial arts slasher Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword will be released in March 2008. That's in the US, at least. It's not entirely clear whether the date also applies to Europe but, if not, we would expect a UK release to follow not long after.

Details of the game first emerged at Tokyo Game Show in September, when it was reported the game would use a novel control method involving the DS being held sideways. The method enables all the fighting action to be controlled using directional stylus flicks and slashes to make your fighter pull off all sorts of moves, combos, weapon attacks and magic.

In advance of the game's release, Tecmo has made available a Ninja Gaiden demo for download at DS Download Stations in the US. Our guess is as good as yours as to whether a similar demo will be on offer here.

US forum posters who have checked it out though are likening its all-stylus controls to the intuitive control system of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, which is certainly promisingly high praise for Ninja Gaiden.
