Multi-touch arrives on Nexus One

Pinch me. Am I dreaming?

Multi-touch arrives on Nexus One

No longer will Nexus One users suffer the jibes from the Apple kids boasting about their ‘pinch zooming’ abilities, because Google has updated the Nexus One to do just that.

The over-the-air update released yesterday also resolves some 3G connectivity issues, but Nexus One users probably won’t notice that while they’re busy trying out Google Maps and zooming in and out of the Pocket Gamer homepage.

The update is a little bit of a surprise as Apple is believed to hold the patent for multi-touch technology, something that seemed to be supported by its absence when the Nexus One initially launched.

Mind you, the Palm Pre already has it and Apple’s lawyers haven’t initiated any lawsuits yet, despite some nasty comments, so maybe its competitors have found a way of bypassing the patents?

Either that or Apple is too busy fighting Nokia, Kodak, and Fujitsu at the moment to care.
