Google engineering VP lets slip about new 'enterprise' version

Google’s engineering VP Andy Rubin - the chap behind Android - recently received a grilling on stage at CES 2010 from veteran technology journalist Walt Mossberg.

One of the things Rubin slipped out, according to Gizmodo and Engadget, was that a new iteration of the Nexus One aimed at “enterprise users” was being planned.

Rubin revealed that the Nexus One was merely the first in a “program” of Google Android devices, but that there may well be another version of the current device that would compete with the likes of the Blackberry in the business sector.

“An enterprise version,” said Rubin, “might be something with a physical keyboard, it may be a world phone...it’s a different SKU."

So should RIM and Palm be shaking in their boots at the news? Or is Google stuck with the geeky/techy crowd, as its detractors seem to suggest?
