Google to announce Nexus One on January 5th, price and details leaked
|

It wasn't very long ago that we first learned of the impending Nexus One, Google's own hardware contribution to the Android platform.

Google's wasting no time in giving birth to this device, having invited several journalists to a press conference at Mountain View, the company's California HQ, on January 5th. The invitation states that the presentation begins at 10am over there, which means 6pm over here. We'll be following the event.

A document leaked to technology site Gizmodo contains details about price and tariffs. If the source is correct, the Nexus One will cost $530 unsubsidised directly from Google (allegedly at google.com/phone when it goes live), and $180 on a two year contract (with T-Mobile US).

The only tariff available will be $39.99 Even More + Text + Web for $79.99 total, even if you're upgrading your handset. If you cancel your contract before 120 days, you have to pay for the full unlocked phone - an extra $350.

Of course, these prices are in dollars. There's no word yet on the UK release, which means we don't know how much it'll cost or which operator(s) will supply it. According to Gizmodo, though, there's “language in the agreement of shipping outside the US.”
