Yes, it's apparently true.

Rumours have been milling around for quite some time, but the mighty Google has finally confirmed it will be bringing out a branded phone in early 2010 - produced by an undisclosed phone manufacturer, according to the website TechCrunch.

The phone will allegedly be more than just branded: Google is apparently dictating every last feature to ensure the phone meets its exact vision, very much like how Apple was with the iPhone. Because of this, there will be no 'splintering' - that is software and the OS will be standardised.

Samsung has been cited as a potential maker of the Google Phone, but considering Samsung has multiple parts in the iPhone Apple will likely exert pressure on the firm not to manufacture Google's phone.

TechCrunch has said it has good information suggesting a Korean phone manufacturer, which points at LG as being the 'birthplace of the Google Phone'.

Still, this is speculation, so we'll wait and see next year how things pan out. When we know more, we shall let you know.
