Mid-week iOS releases: Cthulhu Saves the World, Chasing Yello, The Amazing Spider-Man, Frisbee Forever 2, and more

Welcome back to Pocket Gamer's round-up of the latest iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad mid-week releases.

As you all probably know by now, we produce this article each week because we're simply too busy to bring you a story on every single new game that hits the App Store.

These games have recently hit Apple's New Zealand outlet, meaning they should be available to download in the UK and US from around midnight this evening.

Pocket Gamer Gold Award-winning tower defence title Kingdom Rush, which has been available for the iPad since last December, is now playable on the iPhone.

This colourful strategy-filled battler sees you defend your kingdom against hordes of orcs, trolls, evil wizards, and other unworldly beings using a "vast arsenal" of towers - all of which can be upgraded in eight ways.

Our first Universal release of this week is an iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad version of popular XBLA and Steam indie title Cthulhu Saves the World.

In this RPG, you play as the lord of insanity, who must become a true hero in order to regain the powers he needs to destroy the world. Yes, you need to save the world... just so you can then destroy it.

This semi-sequel to Saving Yello is an endless-runner in which you attempt to aid the game's helpless protagonist navigate a wild creek, avoid obstacles, and escape from his seven-year-old owner.

The creek is filled to the brim with burning logs, piranhas, and dangerous rocks, but you can easily overcome any obstacles you stumble across using a range of power-ups.

This web-slinging title features 25 different missions that are based on the storyline of Marc Webb's forthcoming movie blockbuster of the same name.

Basically, you'll find yourself facing off against the Lizard and his minions across five real-world (and fully explorable) New York districts: Central Park, Business, Downtown, Pier, and Residential.

No, you don't take control of a chicken in this roast-'em-up. Instead, you take on the role of Biggy, a hunter and farmer, who must protect his valuable stockpile of corn from the little feathered beasts.

You do this across six colourful levels. As you progress, you earn power-ups and better weapons.

Chillingo's Tanglers is a glorified game of Pairs. In it, you have to match two similarly coloured aliens as many times as you can before you run out of time.

Game Center leaderboards allow you to compete against your buddies.

Frisbee Forever 2, much like the Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning Frisbee Forever, tasks you with guiding a frisbee through 75 "creative and individually designed tracks", which are spread across several unique locations.

If you're familiar with this title's predecessor, you'll know that these tracks are littered with numerous obstacles. If you're not, we suggest you check out the video below.

Another tower defence title. This time around, you play as William - a brave warrior who must protect his kingdom from his evil soul-selling brother. William is a mole. Just so you know.

Your troops, which benefit from a "versatile job system", will have to do battle across 60 different stages.

In Doodle Fit 2, you visit ten different real-world countries, all of which feature 20 puzzles that are based on an item or a landmark from that country. These puzzles can feature multiple solutions.

This puzzler features three game modes - Around the World, Time Attack, and Challenge - and support for both Game Center and OpenFeint.

Throw zombies at an invading British Royal Expeditionary Force. What more do you need to know? Well, there are destructible environments to have fun with, I guess.

Anyway, there are an "unlimited" number of levels to work your way through, and an iPad-specific level editor that allows you to create your own stages.

According to this game's App Store description, some "seriously bad dudes" have attacked earth. So, it's been left up to you to sort out earth's mess by punching the invading suckers square in the jaw.

You can also shoot them, if you'd rather do that. Your platoon of four soldiers can be customised with new hairstyles, facial hair, clothing, armour, weapons, and upgrades.
