Mid-week iOS releases: Bug Princess 2, Ice Age Village, Saturday Morning RPG, Virtual City 2: Paradise Resort, and more

Welcome back to Pocket Gamer's round-up of the latest iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad mid-week releases.

As you all probably know by now, we produce this article each week because we're simply too busy to bring you a story on every single new game that hits the App Store.

These games have recently hit Apple's New Zealand outlet, meaning they should be available to download in the UK and US from around midnight this evening.

MonsterTakedown tasks you with protecting a dangerous creature from extinction by tapping, swiping, and prodding attacking helicopters, missiles, and nuclear weapons out of the sky with your finger.

There are five different monsters to choose from and two special abilities to utilise - both of which will be needed if you want to brag to your friends about the high score you've managed to amass.

Virtual City 2: Paradise Resort is a free-to-play build-'em-up sequel that sees you attempt to build bustling resorts across 52 challenging levels, which are spread out across four locations: Florida, Alaska, Utah, and Nevada.

There are a whopping 73 varieties of buildings to construct, 42 kinds of goods that can be traded, and 98 achievements to unlock. Big numbers.

Bug Princess 2, the sequel to Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning shoot-'em-up Bug Princess, is a bullet-hell shooter that features three game modes (Original, Maniac, and Ultra) and four difficulty levels (Novice, Normal, Hard, and Hell).

There's also a Practice mode available so you can, well, practise avoiding screenfuls of bullets and gunning down your foes. Game Center and OpenFeint are both supported.

Ice Age Village is a free-to-play social title that charges you with helping franchise favourites Sid, Manny, Diego, and Ellie construct a village for a bunch of refugee animals, who have been left homeless after an unfortunate turn of events. I won't spoil it for you.

This title is packed with quests, mini-games, and daily challenges, as well as animals, buildings, and decorations from the Ice Age universe. Gameloft will introduce fresh content into the game every two weeks.

Babel Running is an obstacle-filled running game in which you ferry large stone blocks to the Tower of Babel, which is a structure created to bring its builders closer to the Gods.

En route to your destination, you'll have to avoid numerous hazards, such as crocodiles, tidal waves, fires, and all manner of other dangerous objects.

Saturday Morning RPG is an episodic role-playing game that's set in a world heavily inspired by Saturday morning cartoons from the 1980s.

Your stats, your inventory, and even the decisions you make in this debut episode will carry over into future chapters, meaning you're continually influencing your upcoming battles with the evil Commander Hood.

On The Wind is an extremely colourful casual title that lets you take control of the wind. Once you've taken over these reins, your job is to successfully guide a pile of leaves through four real-world seasons.

This game features randomly generated stages, and comes complete with support for the new iPad's gorgeous Retina display.

iOOTP Baseball 2012 Edition is a new iOS-optimised baseball management title in the bestselling Out of the Park Baseball series.

There are three different game modes to delve into here: Major Leagues, which sees you choose a real-world team and play out the 2012 season; Fictional, which lets you build your very own fictional team from scratch; and Historical Replay, which sees you compete in the 1924, 1969, and 2004 baseball seasons.

In Spiel Studios's physics-based title Propel Man, you fire the game's protagonist out of a catapult and across the finishing line of 30 challenging levels.

There are four different catapults to choose from and a whole bunch of helpful power-ups that should help you achieve a higher score. These include laser guns and rocket suits.

CreaVures throws you headlong into a battle to restore a once-colourful forest to its former luminescent grandeur across various puzzle-filled platforming levels.

The game's five characters - Bitey, Pokey, Rolly, Zappy, and Flick - all have a unique talent, which you'll need to utilise accordingly to overcome puzzles, enemies, and end-of-chapter bosses.

Rabbids go HD is a cruel app that encourages you to tickle, toss, shake, and play tricks on a captive Rabbid. You can even take photographs during your torture sessions and share them with the world via Facebook.

As you play, you'll unlock videos, images, and unique wallpapers, which you can use to customise your device's Home screen.

Beeing might appear to be a cute and cuddly title on the surface, but it actually sees you undertake a brave mission to save your lost comrades, who are scattered throughout nectar-filled fields of flowers.

You control your bees across the game's five hazard-filled episodes by sliding one of your sweaty digits up and down your device's screen.

There are two modes on offer: Story and Survival.
