Welcome back to Pocket Gamer's round-up of the new iPhone and iPad mid-week releases.

As always, we bring you this round-up because we're too busy to write a story for every new game that gets past Apple's strict approval process.

Rob and Rich are both hard at work editing the stories you'll read throughout today, Mark's planning his next witty feature, Mike and Will are both over in Germany for Gamescom, and I'm, well, here.

Anyway, all of the titles in this list have just hit the New Zealand App Store, making them available in the UK and the US from around midnight.

Check 'em out below.

iPhone Rogue Sky

Rogue Sky is not just an ace arcade flying game. Nope, it's Chillingo's ace arcade flying game. 'Prolific' isn't the word for that company, I tell you.

In Chillingo's latest iPhone release, you navigate your hot air balloon through mine-filled skies, while collecting power-ups and destroying your rivals' attempts at glory.

It features hand-drawn environments, multiple game modes, and Game Center support.

iBlast Moki 2

Godzilab's iBlast Moki 2 is probably the highest-profile new entry on the App Store this week.

It features six colourful worlds, 90 levels packed with realistic physics, paint bombs, rotating wheels, and a handy level editor.

You can share your creations online, or download and attempt puzzles created by thousands of other players.

Zombie Resistance

Zombie Resistance is a defend-'em-up (yeah, I made that one up, thanks) that sees you facing off against against wave after wave of the undead, using 25 upgradeable weapons and attachments.

You'll be up against various zombie types and scary bosses across the game's six difficulty levels, all the while trying to unlock achievements on Apple's Game Center service.

Deo

Deo is a challenging physics-based jumping game, comprising two huge worlds, 90 levels, and an extra six bonus missions. Oh, and a gorgeous art style.

Your goal is to use the game's simple 'tap anywhere' controls to jump between hills and 'capture' the rotating level.

Completing your task will lead to the successful construction of a new planet, which can be viewed on the game's main menu.

ePig Surf

ePig Surf is a strangely named title, which features Eddie the pig riding over some summer waves.

Using tilt controls, your job is to make sure the hordes of sharks, manta rays, dolphins, turtles, and other sea hazards don't knock the swine off his board.

Game Center leaderboards encourage you to compete with your friends.

Universal Silly Owls

Silly Owls sees you controlling three unique owls – Doory, Hooty, and Woody - over three different types of gameplay.

You'll fire Doory around levels in the hope of collecting three stars, help Hooty prove that she discovered gravity, and guide Woody on his banana skateboard.

There are 60 levels on offer, a Survival mode, and support for both Game Center and OpenFeint.

Conan: Tower of the Elephant

Ever wanted to be the 'most renowned barbarian hero of all time' Conan? No, me neither, but now you can, anyway.

Your mission is to aid a prince of thieves across 50 quests, and destroy waves of enemies to claim a fabled treasure.

Combat is handled with simple gestures, and the game's story plays out in comic book-style cutscenes.

Conan: Tower of the Elephant is based on Robert E. Howard's original short story of the same name.

Emissary of War

Emissary of War, the latest project from BioWare veteran Tobyn Manthorpe, is a new iOS action RPG.

You take on the role of a barbarian emissary known as Ghent, and set out on a peace mission. Naturally, things don't go as planned, and you have to hunt down and destroy the evil forces that ruined said mission.

A full 3D world, voice acting for the game's entire cast of characters, and several cutscenes are all present and accounted for.

Anthony Usher
Anthony Usher
Anthony is a Liverpool, UK-based writer who fell in love with gaming while playing Super Mario World on his SNES back in the early '90s. When he isn't busy grooming his beard, you can find him replaying Resident Evil or Final Fantasy VII for the umpteenth time. Aside from gaming, Anthony likes hiking, MMA, and pretending he’s a Viking.
